Drugs, weapons and cash seized in Attawapiskat search warrant

Four people are facing a total of 16 charges in Attawapiskat. 

On Feb. 12, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) officers executed a search warrant in the community about 500 kilometres north of Timmins on the James Bay coast.

Police seized 2,674 methamphetamine (speed) tablets, 303 Oxycodone (Percocet) tablets, one gram of fentanyl, 5.5 grams of cocaine, $2,610 in cash, a 30-30 lever-action rifle, two imitation C02 handguns, a collapsible baton and brass knuckles.

Sky Josephine Hookimaw, 24, is charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance.

Georgette Koostachin, 50, and Natasha Nadine Koostachin, 33, are each charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Gavin Koostachin, 28, is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

Each of the accused has been released on conditions are scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
