Drug trafficking charges laid after suspected meth tablets, cocaine seized at Hearst residence

HEARST - On March 18, 2021 at approximately 1:14 p.m. members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and the Community Street Crime Unit along with members of James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the Town of Hearst.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of what is suspected to be methamphetamine tablets, cocaine, mushrooms and also some Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation Ian Veilleux, 41 years of age from Hearst was arrested and charged with:

  • Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Adult possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, and
  • Adult possession of a schedule III substance, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 12, 2021 in Hearst.
