A driver involved in a hit-and-run has turned himself into police.

Last week, Timmins Police issued a plea asking for information on a hit-and-run in the Commercial Avenue area. The driver turned himself in the next day.

The crash happened on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the intersection of Rea Street South and Commercial Avenue.

Police did not include the name or age of the person charged with using a plate not authorized for a vehicle, failing to stop at a stop sign, failing to yield to traffic on through highway, failing to remain, and operating a vehicle with no insurance.

"The Timmins Police Service wished to remind all motorists of their legal and ethical obligations to remain at the scene of any motor vehicle collision to render assistance and provide required information to forward the investigation," reads a news release.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
