MOOSONEE - A Fort Albany man is facing charges after allegedly giving police a fake name during a traffic stop.
On March 10 around 8 p.m., James Bay OPP says a vehicle was pulled over on Ferguson Road in Moosonee. During the stop, police say the driver gave the officer a fake name.
A 39-year-old man from Fort Albany is charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Driver motor vehicle - no licence
- Fail to properly wear seat belt
- Obstruct plate
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 in Moosoness.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
