The driver of a truck has been charged after a single-vehicle crash that knocked out power to over 1,600 people for hours this morning (June 21).

The driver of a pickup truck involved in a crash at the Bruce Avenue wye this morning has been charged. 

Timmins Police has finished its investigation of the single-vehicle collision that saw the truck take out a traffic sign and come to rest in a hydro pole. It knocked out power to over 1,600 Hydro One customers for hours and traffic was rerouted until about 11:30 a.m. when the highway was fully reopened.

The 49-year-old man from South Porcupine driving the truck has been charged with careless driving. 

He was treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene, said police.

"The Timmins Police extends its gratitude to those motorists who rendered assistance at the scene and to witnesses who came forward to provide investigative details," reads a news release.
