The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an arrest warrant that was executed during the evening hours of Sunday, Oct. 3, in Timmins.

In the course of completing general patrols, a Timmins Police Service officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner near the intersection of Mountjoy Street South and Bannerman Avenue.

A traffic stop was initiated, and it was determined that the driver was trying to locate an address as he was driving.

A cursory driver’s licence check revealed that the driver was named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Laurence Barton, 44, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges that resulted in the arrest warrant being issued.
