Domestic dispute leads to assault charge in Gogama

GOGAMA –  On Jan. 4, 2021 at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a domestic disturbance at a residence in Gogama.  

As a result of the investigation a 35-year-old person from Gogama was arrested and charged with the following:  

  • Mischief - domestic contrary to section 430(3) of the Criminal Code (CC) - two counts,  
  • Assault - spousal contrary to section 266 of the CC and, 
  • Uttering Threats - damage property contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the CC.  

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gogama on March 15, 2021.  

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
