Disturbance call leads to impaired charges for Cochrane resident

On May 5, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance on Genier Road in the Town of Cochrane.

Police investigation revealed that a driver, who was involved in the disturbance, was impaired by alcohol.

Louise Reuben, 32-years-old, of Cochrane, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) CC, and
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to section 32 of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on July 28, 2020, to answer to the charges.

The driver was served with a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone driving after having consumed intoxicating substances.
