Disturbance call leads to drug charges

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with Criminal Code and drug possession offences stemming from an incident which occurred during the evening hours of Monday March 1.

Timmins Police officers responded to the scene of a woman creating a disturbance out in front of a Cedar Street South address.

Once on scene, repeated attempts to have the subject calm down were unsuccessful.

The subject was arrested for causing a disturbance.

A quantity of controlled substances was located as a result of a search incident to arrest.

As a result of the incident, Francis Groom, 60, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Cause a disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

Groom was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling her to attend provincial court in Timmins on April 6 to answer to the charges laid against her.
