Disturbance call leads to assault charge

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a morning disturbance that occurred yesterday (Jan. 24) at an Eyre Street residence resulting in minor injury to a 20-year-old male person.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the occurrence where a male party entered into a verbal dispute with a second male person that escalated to the point where [it is alleged that] the suspect struck the victim.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the male suspect at the scene of the disturbance.

As a result, David Faries, 35 of Timmins has been charged with:
    •    assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remained in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.

The victim received medical attention for the facial injury he sustained during the altercation.
