Cops looking for driver who caused a Timmins crash, then fled the scene

It happened at the intersection of Algonquin and Mountjoy

Police are looking to find the driver who caused a crash at a busy intersection and then fled the scene.

The afternoon of Feb. 8, Timmins Police say the driver of the passenger car (pictured above) was heading west on Algonquin Boulevard and tried to turn left onto Mountjoy Street South.

"In so doing, this driver entered the path of an oncoming eastbound passenger vehicle causing him to swerve to avoid a collision," said police in a news release.

"The driver of the other vehicle struck a pole at the southeast corner of Mountjoy Street and Algonquin Boulevard as a result.

"The resulting damage to that vehicle rendered it undriveable."

After the crash, the driver that caused it fled the scene, said police.

Police are looking for the public's help to identify the driver. They are also urging the person responsible to come forward.
