Cocaine seized in Kirkland Lake

Accused was found sleeping in the driver's seat

KIRKLAND LAKE - On July 9, 2022, at approximately 12 a.m., frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general law enforcement patrol in the Town of Kirkland Lake when they observed a vehicle parked on Chateau Drive with a person asleep in the driver's seat.

Police checked on the well-being of the driver and observed drugs in plain view. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Amanda Batisse, 42, of Otto Township, was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 11, 2022, in Kirkland Lake.
