Charges laid after boat crashes into dock on Long Lake in Englehart

Police say the boat operator had consumed alcoholic beverages

LONG LAKE, ROBILLARD TOWNSHIP - On April 24, 2021 shortly before 7 p.m., members from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a crash on Long Lake, in the Township of Robillard.   

Preliminary investigation indicated that a vessel was being operated when it collided with a dock on the lake.

Officers located the individuals on the vessel a short time after. Further investigation revealed that the boat operator had consumed alcoholic beverages. 

As a result, Jacob Jamieson, a 24-year-old resident of Charlton has been arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the CC, and
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court. 

The accused was released by way of an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 18, 2021 in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
