Chapleau teen charged with domestic assault

It happened on Feb. 17 on Martel Road, says police

CHAPLEAU - A teen is facing several criminal charges after a fight earlier this month. 

Superior East OPP said there was a physical altercation on Feb. 17 around 2 a.m. Officers responded to a call for a domestic disturbance on Martel Road in Chapleau. 

A 17-year-old, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:

  • Assault - spousal
  • Assault with a weapon - spousal
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - spousal

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in March in Chapleau. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
