Break and enter suspect accused of stealing chainsaw, cash

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local resident with break-in related offences stemming from an incident which occurred during the morning hours of Friday, May 8 at a Wende Street residence.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where a male suspect had forcibly gained entry into a residence and made off with a chainsaw and a quantity of cash.

Responding officers located the suspect, with a quantity of freshly stolen property, in his possession a short distance from the original scene.

The man was arrested and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service.

The residence door and doorframe had sustained considerable damage as a result of the break-in.

As a result of the incident, Lyle McEvoy, 38, of Timmins, has been charged with:  

  • Break and enter with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Two counts of mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two count of fail To comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning (May 11) at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
