Breaching release orders, warrant lead to three arrests

A couple of the arrests were made during crime abatement patrols

The Timmins Police Service arrested three local residents on the strength of arrest warrants or based on discovered breaches of release orders.

During the evening hours of Monday, July 25, while completing crime abatement patrols, a Timmins Police officer recognized a pedestrian on Pine Street North as being a person in breach of court-imposed release conditions.

Once the validity of the conditions was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, a 32-year-old man from Timmins was arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.

In a separate incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 26, while completing crime abatement patrols, a Timmins Police officer recognized a pedestrian on Birch Street North as being a wanted person named in a current arrest warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, a 33-year-old woman from Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for July 26 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her.

Shortly afterwards, a Timmins Police officer located a subject in an alley off of Maple Street North who is bound by specific court-imposed release conditions.

Further investigation revealed that the subject was in breach of these conditions and was subsequently arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her.
