Arrest warrant leads to charges for Timmins man

Police say they found a quantity of a controlled substance on the accused

The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident on the strength of an Arrest Warrant which was executed in the downtown core during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, Sept. 2 by the Timmins Police Service.

While on patrol of his assigned patrol zone, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a male subject as being a wanted person pursuant to an Arrest Warrant held by the Timmins Police.

Once the validity of the warrant was confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

Based upon a search conducted incident to arrest, a quantity of a controlled substance was located among the arrested person’s belongings.

As a result, John George Wesley, 26, of Timmins was arrested on the strength of the warrant and is further charged with: 

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act  
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Wesley remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
