Armed robbery among charges against Wahgoshig man

The investigation into the Kirkland Lake incident led to the seizure of a flare gun

KIRKLAND LAKE, On. - On June 29, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a robbery at a business located on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police arrived at the scene, and the accused was arrested without incident. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of a flare gun.

As a result, Adam Sackaney, 39, of Wahgoshig First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Armed robbery, contrary to section 343(d) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC
  • Carrying concealed weapon, contrary to section 90 of the CC
  • Disguise with Intent, contrary to section 351(2) of the CC

The accused was released on a Judicial Release Order and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on July 14, 2022.
