$76K in cash, drugs seized during Kirkland Lake bust

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Jan. 31, 2021, the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the North East Region OPP Canine Unit (K9), executed a search warrant at a residence on Premier Avenue West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police seized drugs suspected to be opioids (fentanyl), methamphetamine and cocaine. Police also seized $6,815 in Canadian currency. Total estimated street value of the seizure is $76,655.

As a result, Brian Gammie, 57 years of age of Guelph, Ont., has been arrested and charged with the following:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary section 5(2) of the CDSA,
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary section 5(2) of the CDSA,
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
    •    Failure to comply with release order, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice by video on Feb. 11, 2021.
