$63K in fentanyl, cocaine seized after vehicle hits the ditch on Highway 11

COLEMAN TOWNSHIP - A vehicle that hit the ditch on Highway 11 led to drug trafficking charges and the seizure of more than $63,000 in drugs. 

Around 3:30 a.m. yesterday (Jan. 30), Temiskaming OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch in Coleman Township.

Police allege that the driver had consumed intoxicating substances. He was arrested and brought back to the detachment for further testing. 

The investigation also led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl and cocaine with an estimated street value of $63,500.

Four people — the driver and three passengers — are facing charges.

Edgar Cheechoo, 37, of Moose Factory is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl.

Oliver Koosees, 37, of Moose Factory is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.

Jaisha Mesquito, 23, of Markham is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.

Victor Quachegan, 45, of Moose Factory is charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl, and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused are in police custody waiting for a bail hearing. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
