34-year-old accused of stealing a vehicle

The Timmins man also faces the charge of criminal harassment

The Timmins Police Service has charged a person with theft related offences stemming from a series of incidents that occurred resulting in the recovery of a vehicle that had been taken without the owner’s consent.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a call for service yesterday morning (March 4) regarding a suspicious vehicle parked at a Joseph Street address.

Based on the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had in fact been taken without the owner’s consent and that the person driving the vehicle is currently under suspension.

The responding Timmins Police officer arrested the driver and took him into police custody.

As a result of the incident, Vincent Belair, 34, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Take motor vehicle without owner’s consent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Criminal harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of fail to comply with probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Belair remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
