3 facing trafficking charges in Kirkland Lake drug bust

Three people are facing trafficking charges after a $80,000 worth of drugs were seized in Kirkland Lake.

KIRKLAND LAKE - Police seized an estimated $80,000 of drugs executing a search warrant this week. 

Yesterday (April 18), Kirkland Lake OPP executed a search warrant at a McCamus Avenue residence in Kirkland Lake. 

Officers seized suspected fentanyl and crystal methamphetamines with an estimated street value of $80,000 and cell phones. 

Three Kirkland Lake residents - 38-year-old Jessica Benson, 39-year-old Melissa Burnside, and 49-year-old Jody Mulvihill are each charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

The accused were held for a bail hearing and remanded in police custody. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 24.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
