28-year-old from Kirkland Lake accused of stunt driving on Highway 112

On May 21, 2021, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 112, in Otto Township, when a vehicle was stopped for travelling at a speed greater than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

As a result, a 28-year-old from Kirkland Lake has been charged with race motor vehicle - excessive speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver was issued a seven-day driver's licence suspension and vehicle impoundment for the same period.

The accused was released on a provincial summons and is scheduled to appear for the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept.30, 2021, in Kirkland Lake.
