26-year-old charged with assault in Earlton

ARMSTRONG TOWNSHIP - On Aug. 29, 2021 shortly after 3:30 a.m., members from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic situation on 10th Street in the Township of Armstrong.

Further investigation revealed that a verbal altercation had taken place prior to the accused fleeing the residence.

Shortly before 7 a.m., [it is alleged that] the accused returned to the residence, caused damage to the door and assaulted their partner.

Police arrived a short time after and the accused was arrested.

A 26-year-old resident of Armstrong Township has been charged with:
    •    assault - spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC

The accused was released by way of an Undertaking, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
