22-year-old accused of driving erratically at a group of pedestrians in Englehart

Police say the driver had been in a relationship with one of the pedestrians but they are now estranged

ENGLEHART - On Jan. 15, 2021 shortly after 1:30 a.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a traffic complaint on Second Street in the Town of Englehart. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that three individuals were walking on Second Street when a motor vehicle was reported driving erratically towards them. 

Further investigation revealed that the driver had been in a relationship with one of the pedestrians but they are now estranged.

As a result, a 22-year-old resident from the Township of Evanturel, was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 2, 2021, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
