19-year-old charged with impaired driving in Moosonee

MOOSONEE - On Dec. 28, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol when they observed a motor vehicle driving in an unsafe manor on Atim Road in the Town of Moosonee.

Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver of the motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

Nakita Smallboy, 19 years old of Moose Factory, was arrested and charged with:
    •    operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (BAC) (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 1, 2022 in Moosonee.
