WACHNUK, Mary (Marie)

With sadness, the family announces the unexpected passing of our beloved mom and Baba on July 8th, 2019, just days before her 93rd birthday celebration.

Raised in Schumacher, she was the only daughter and last surviving child of John and Elizabeth Tomiuk. She is predeceased by her parents, husband George Wachnuk and brothers Dan, Jack, Bill, Nick and John Tomiuk. Left with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children Nick and wife Nelda, John and wife Lise, Sharon and husband Richard Sokolowicz, grandchilden Jim, Jane, Kyna, Melinda, Stephanie, Marika and Niko and great grandchildren Carter, Brett, Sydney,  Emma, Sam, Hudson, Gabriel and Walker. A legendary cook who's hospitality knew no bounds, mom loved cottage life surrounded by family at MacInnis Lake and the hunt camp on the Whitefish River. She was a true people person who could make your day with a wisecrack and a smile, as the staff at Extendicare Timmins quickly learned during her 4 months there. Our sincere thanks to them for their care and kindness. At Mom's request, there will be a family graveside committal service. Donations in her memory can be made to the TDH Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
