The family of William 'Nick' Miller, announces his passing at Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday July 13 2022. Nick passed with family at his side after a short hospitalization. Nick is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Nola (Dwyer), daughters Tara Miller (Wayne Caron) of Timmins and Trina Miller (Chuck Williams) of Corbeil. Also to be greatly missed by his two grandson, who he treasured dearly, Tanner Racicot (Christale) of Timmins and Kyle Racicot (Samantha) of Porcupine. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Bill (Nancy) Dwyer of Waterloo, Terry (Pat) Dwyer of Kitchener and Helen Miller of South Porcupine. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Hilton and Margaret Miller, sister Maureen Duffy, brother Robert 'Duke' Miller and Terry Miller. Nick was a true blue 'South-end' boy who never left the Porcupine camp. After marrying Nola, his best friend and rock, they settled in to the big white house on the corner. Nick worked as an electrician at Dome Mines, lineman with Northern Telephone and construction on the Kidd Creek Met Site, Nick found his passion when he was hired as a firefighter with the City of Timmins. He worked his way up from the trucks, to fire preventions and retired as Training Officer. Nick loved to talk about his years at the fire hall and was always eager to give advice to any rookie firefighter that he trained. His other passion was his cottage near Matheson. Nick and Nola spent many years enjoying the cottage life with family and friends. He loved his cottage and often told his family to 'bury me at the flagpole' at the lake. Nick was quite a character and always left an impression on everyone he met. We will always remember his cottage motto 'Dad's way or the highway'. Nick was a long-standing affiliate member of the South Porcupine Legion branch 287. A private family service is being arranged. Donations to the Emergency Department of Timmins and District Hospital or Branch 287 of the Royal Canadian Legion would be appreciated.
