Kamloops Blazers blank Victoria Royals 6-0 for sixth straight win

VICTORIA — Fraser Minten, Nick McCarry and Matthew Seminoff each had a goal and an assist for the surging Kamloops Blazers in a 6-0 blanking of the Victoria Royal on Friday in the WHL.

The Blazers (10-1-0-0) won their sixth game in a row and trail only the Winnipeg Ice for the WHL's best record early this season. The Royals (1-11-1-0) rank last in the league.

Dylan Garand posted a 22-save shutout for Kamloops, which also got goals from Logan Stankoven, Daylan Kuefler and Ethan Brandwood.

The Blazers peppered Victoria's net with 49 shots. Arnold Campbell gave up six goals on 39 shots over two periods before he was relieved by Tyler Palmer.

In other WHL games Friday the scores were: Portland Winterhawks 5, Kelowna Rockets 4 (SO); Seattle Thunderbirds 5, Tri-City Americans 3; Everett Silvertips 5, Spokane Chiefs 4; Vancouver Giants 3, Prince George Cougars 1; Red Deer Rebels 5, Brandon Wheat Kings 3; Moose Jaw Warriors 4, Lethbridge Hurricanes 1; Prince Albert Raiders 5, Saskatoon Blades, 1; Swift Current Broncos 3, Medicine Hat Tigers 2; Calgary Hitmen 6, Edmonton Oil Kings 5.
