A couple of Royal Canadian Air Force helicopters were spotted in the Timmins area recently.
Two CH147F Chinook helicopters flew over about 4 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 23) on their way to fuel up at the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport. Residents reported seeing another helicopter on Friday night.
Chinooks are tandem rotor helicopters. With the Royal Canadian Air Force, the aircraft is part of the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron at CFB Petawawa.
Public affairs officer Capt. Yvette Mills said last week two CH147F Chinooks were heading from Petawawa to Fairbanks, Alaska, for a routine exercise.
The Chinooks have a range of about 1,200 kilometres and stopped in Timmins for fuel.
