Lemonade stand an overwhelming hit (6 photos)

These 9-year-olds raised enough money to pay off their stolen bikes and donate over $1,500 to the SickKids Foundation

Two Timmins boys held a lemonade stand they won't soon forget.

Over the weekend, Kenzie Roberge and Carson Jalbert set up a stand selling lemonade, Freezies and bottled water, with free jokes being handed out with every order. The aim was to raise money to help pay to replace their bikes that were stolen a week ago and donate any extra cash to the SickKids Foundation.

The stand was an overwhelming hit. The nine-year-old boys raised the $700 needed for their new bikes and are able to donate $1,511.70 to the SickKids Foundation.

Along with support from the neighbourhood, Timmins Police officers, Mountjoy Fire Department volunteers and members of a local motorcycle club stopped by to help make the day even more unforgettable.

"Our families are completely overwhelmed by the support that Kenzie and Carson received at their lemonade stand today! This day will go down in history as one of the best days of these boys’ lives. A huge thank you to every person who came today to show our boys that there are amazing people in this community and that those who stole their bikes from them are not the rule," wrote Brittany Roberge, Kenzie's mom, after the event held on Aug. 21.

"We are thankful for SickKids right now for the care they are giving our family and know how much they rely on donations for the great work they do with our littles. If you feel inclined to donate, please consider donating to SickKids."
