Work to complete the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan is ahead of schedule, according to Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier.
At the Feb. 11 Timmins Police Services Board meeting, Gauthier gave an update on the local document.
The Police Services Act requires municipalities to have a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. It will identify priority risk factors, strategies to reduce the potential risks, and set measurable outcomes.
The original deadline for it was January of this year. Because of the pandemic, the deadline has been pushed to the end of July, said Gauthier.
The local plan is being developed by Trimed Consulting's Melanie Verreault.
Gauthier said Verreault is writing up the report, with the aim to present to Timmins council in mid-April.
“Once that Community Safety and Well-Being plan is approved by council it will then be sent to the Ministry (of the Solicitor General),” he said.
