Woman seriously injured in pedestrian collision

Police are seeking witnesses following a pedestrian collision that occurred the evening of December 17 at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Shirley Street.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., a pedestrian crossing Riverside Drive at Shirley Street was struck by a vehicle turning left onto Riverside Dr.

The pedestrian, a 51-year-old Timmins woman, was transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.

At this time, the woman remains in hospital in serious condition.

Riverside Drive was closed until approximately 11:30 p.m. to allow police to investigate the collision.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing by members of the Traffic Services section.

The driver involved did remain at the scene, however police are seeking any information from individuals who may have witnessed the collision to assist with the investigation.

Independent accounts from witnesses make up an important piece of any motor vehicle collision investigation.
