Woman charged with break and enter, assault and more

KAPUSKASING – On March 30, 2016, at 1:18 p.m. the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services of Kapuskasing attended to a female experiencing a medical emergency on McPherson Street in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Investigation revealed that the female, 26, had broken into a residence and assaulted one of the occupants.

The female was taken to the hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

She has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Break and Enter Dwelling House contrary to section 348(1)(b) (CC)
  • Two Counts of Breach of Recognizance contrary to section 811 (CC)
  • Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) (CC)
  • Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(5.1) (CC)

After a bail hearing, she was kept in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario on April 18, 2016 at 10 a.m.
