Wildland fire south of Timmins under control

One wildland fire remains active in the region as of Wednesday evening.

The latest update from the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry reports that Timmins 11 is the lone active fire in the northeast region.

The fire was confirmed on Aug. 11 and is currently 4.6 hectares in size though the Ministry reports that it is currently under control.

The fire is located 3 km east of Kenogamassi Lake and 6 km west of Latimer Lake.

The fire hazard is currently high through much of the region.
