Breaking out a band T-shirt to wear this week could score you passes to this year's Rock on the River music festival.

Timmins Festivals and Events Committee and the Timmins Chamber of Commerce have teamed up for Band Shirt Day this Friday, July 5 and are challenging the local business community to wear a band T-shirt.

To enter the contest, snap a photo of you and your coworkers sporting the shirts on Friday and share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #BandShirtDay, #ROTRTimmins and #FindItInTimmins by the end of the day. One business will win four weekend general admission tickets to Rock on the River, with the winner being announced Monday, July 8.

“We’re calling on Timmins businesses to don their best Duran Duran, wear their favourite White Snake, bust out the Black Sabbath, and dust of that Def Leppard shirt and show some support for Rock On The River,” said Nancy Mageau, Timmins Chamber president, in a news release.

“When we find it in Timmins, our business community can continue its many contributions to events such as the one hosted by TFEC and the Chamber is pleased to promote this fun initiative."

The 2019 Rock on the River music festival is being held July 26 and 27 at Participark in Timmins.

The Sheepdogs are headlining the Friday show. Tim Hicks, The Trews, The Road Hammers and Maddie Storvold will also be on stage.

Saturday will see Theory, Red Sun Rising, Everlast, I Mother Earth, and Fortune Cookie Club perform.
