Northern Ontario Rate Market (NORM) tool is about to make that process a lot easier.

For many people, finding the best mortgage and interest rates can be confusing and time consuming. The new Northern Ontario Rate Market (NORM) tool is about to make that process a lot easier.

Village Media and TimminsToday are launching the brand new, online tool that will provide northerners with regional financial rates available at financial institutions in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay and Timmins.

Unlike other financial comparison websites, NORM focuses exclusively on Northern Ontario rates. It provides users with a sorted list of fixed and variable rates for mortgages, GICs, term deposits and savings accounts in an easy-to-use format.

“One of the most exciting things about NORM is how easy it is to use. Our readers can easily find the best rates available at northern financial institutions, make a decision that best suits their specific needs and save money. And this can be done without leaving their home,” said Jeff Elgie, CEO Village Media.

NORM can be set to filter and search for specific products to match a user’s specific needs.

For financial institutions in the north, NORM provides an outlet to share their rate information with a large, dedicated Northern Ontario audience.

“The first financial institution on board with NORM is Northern Credit Union, who believe Northerners should have a dedicated site to finding the best local deals on financial products said Elgie. “We are inviting all the other northern financial institutions to use NORM and provide TimminsToday readers with all their up-to-date rate information, enabling them to make a sound decision that will suit their situation.”

NORM can be accessed on SooToday, BayToday in North Bay, TBNewswatch in Thunder Bay, Sudbury.com, and TimminsToday, anytime of the day, on mobile, tablet or desktop.
