Another Charge Laid

TIMMINS – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the OPP North East Region Crime Unit have been continuing their investigation, named project ASHLEY, which focused on an organized crime group that was controlling illegal drug distribution in the Timmins area.

As result of further investigation, on September 24, 2015, a male (charges withdrawn), age 30 from Cochrane, was arrested and has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on November 10, 2015.

Police had already charged 25 individuals with numerous Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences after executing search warrants in north eastern Ontario and Niagara Falls on July 28, 2015.
