UPDATE-FATAL COLLISION ON HWY 11 WEST OF HEARST 2013-10-24
(HEARST, ON) – Following the fatal collision on Hwy 11, west of Hearst on October 22, 2013, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is releasing the names of the involved driver and deceased passenger.
The driver of the Chrysler 300 motor vehicle is 31 year old Islam Adel Mahamed IBRAHIM of Ottawa, who is currently in police custody. The deceased passenger is 31 year old James Richard KIRKHAM, also of Ottawa.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, police have now charged IBRAHIM with the offence of Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA), in addition to the Criminal Code of Canada charges that were laid upon him on the day of the collision, for drug related offences.
The police investigation is ongoing.
