Update - Child Pornography Charge Laid - Further Charge Laid and Digest for the North

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) A 34-year-old male is facing a further charge through an ongoing investigation involving possession of child pornography.

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON)  A 34-year-old male is facing a further charge through an ongoing investigation involving possession of child pornography. 

Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Temiskaming Crime Unit commenced an investigation on August 22, 2013.

The OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit will be assisting with the investigation.

Brandon LATOUR of New Liskeard is further charged for Voyeurism – section 162(1) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation is ongoing.

Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on October 1, 2013.

 

OPP CHARGE UNLICENCED DRIVER

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Holtyre, Ontario, man with a traffic offence stemming from a routine traffic stop on September 13th, 2013, in the Timmins area.

An OPP officer had occasion to stop a pickup truck towing a second vehicle in a manner worthy of further police scrutiny. The vehicle’s driver was stopped and interviewed at the roadside.

Based on the investigative measures undertaken by the OPP officer, Jonathan DAVEY, 29, of Holtyre, Ontario, has been charged with Driving Motor Vehicle – No Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The vehicles were removed from the scene by licenced drivers.

 

MATHESON OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(MATHESON) – An officer with the Matheson Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Kirkland Lake, Ontario resident with Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from a routine traffic stop on Fourth Avenue in Matheson on September 14th.

The OPP officer had occasion to stop a passenger vehicle for an alleged traffic violation.

 

Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that there was a driver’s licence suspension in effect in the driver’s name.

John QUINTON, 22, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, has been served with a Provincial Offences Act summons requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.

The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.  Those motorists who insist on driving while under suspension can rightfully expect a prompt and strict response from OPP officers who diligently patrol area roadways.

 

OPP CHARGE ATV DRIVER WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(GOGAMA) – The Gogama Ontario Provincial Police has arrested and charged a Timmins man stemming from a routine traffic stop of an off road vehicle on Hwy 144 in the Gogama area on September 14th

While patrolling the area, an Ontario Provincial Police officer had occasion to observe an off road vehicle being driven on Hwy 144 by a driver who was not wearing a helmet.

The driver was stopped and interviewed at the roadside.

Based on the observations made by the OPP officer, the driver was required to complete on site breath tests.

Based on the outcome of those tests, the driver was arrested and brought to the OPP detachment for Intoxilyzer breath test procedures.

As a result of the investigative steps taken by the OPP, Jason BERTRAND, 38, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:

-       Operate Motor Vehicle – While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

-       Operate Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

-       Unlawfully Drive an Off-Road Vehicle on a Highway contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act

-       Fail to Wear Proper Helmet contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act

-       Operate Off Road Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Off Road Vehicles Act

-       Operate Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

-       Fail To Surrender Driver’s Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

He was released from police custody on a Promise to Appear requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Gogama on November 25th , 2013, to answer to the charges laid against him.

 

ATV DRIVER FACES IMPAIRED CHARGE

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON)  A 49-year-old man went for an ATV ride on September 8, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle.

Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene in Hudson Township.  Ambulance was present and the driver was transported to the hospital.

Further investigation resulted in charges.

Douglas LITTLE of Hudson Township is charged with Impaired Operation – section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Over 80 – section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Accused will appear in Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on September 23, 2013.
