'Unwelcome and repetitive conduct' leads to criminal harassment charge for local man

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with criminal harassment and other Criminal Code charges stemming from their investigation..

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into the unwelcome and repetitive conduct of a local man with a former acquaintance.

It is alleged the man persisted in contacting the involved person by phone and, on at least one occasion, is further alleged to have verbalized a threat towards the victim.

As a result of these incidents, Joran Martilla, 27, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail To Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was arrested late yesterday evening by the Timmins Police Service and remains in police custody while awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
