SMOOTH ROCK FALLS – Union Gas helps the Smooth Rock Falls Fire Department improve safe through the purchase of safety equipment, courtesy of a $1,500 grant awarded today.

Norm Ellerton, Union Gas interim utility service manager presented the cheque to Kevin Lebarron, Smooth Rock Falls fire chief, Michel Pellitier, deputy fire chief and Mayor Michel Arsenault today at the Smooth Rock Falls fire hall.

The Smooth Rock Falls Fire Department will utilize the grant to purchase new helmet lights for the volunteer fire fighters and air quality monitoring systems that read natural gas, oxygen as well as carbon monoxide levels.

“At Union Gas, we are committed to the safety of our employees and our communities,” said Ellerton. “And we show that commitment by investing in local fire departments whose fire prevention, education and fire suppression programs help us all stay safer.”
