Two local officers have earned promotions.

The Timmins Police Services board approved two officers moving up the ranks today.

“Those vacancies were created as a result of the creation of the admin staff sergeant position,” explained Chief John Gauthier.

Two people applied for the vacant staff sergeant position, with Camile Camirand earning the spot.

There was healthy competition for the sergeant position, said Gauthier.

Thirteen people applied, with the top six people getting an interview.

The highest score was Jonathan Minard.

Both of the officers' new roles are effective on Jan. 4, 2022.
