Two new forest fires in northeast Sunday, Timmins 2 is still being held

There were two new forest fires in the northeast fire region as of late afternoon Sunday, according to Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services. 

Parry Sound 4 was a 0.1 of a hectare fire located north of 9 Mile Lake road. It has been declared out. 

Parry Sound 5 covers 0.1 of a hectare. It is located west of Lone Lake in the western half of Gibson River Provincial Park.

At the time of this update, there are two other wildland fires in the region. 

Cochrane 10 measures 74 hectares and is being observed, about 100 kilometres southeast of Moose Factory. 

Timmins 2 is being held at 4,645 hectares. Crews continue to patrol the fire actioning hot spots as required.

The forest fire hazard ranges from moderate to high in the northeast region.

The implementation order for travel and access restrictions that was in place to ensure the safety of the public and emergency response personnel in areas surrounding Timmins 2 has now been lifted.
