Two new COVID cases reported in Timmins and area (updated)

UPDATE

The Porcupine Health Unit reported another confirmed case in Timmins this afternoon, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic up to 370.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting two new COVID-19 cases.

One case is in Timmins and the contact of a case. The second person is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls. The exposure is under investigation. Both people are in self-isolation, according to the Porcupine Health Unit.

To date, there have been 369 confirmed cases of the virus in the region. There are 20 known active cases — 16 in Timmins, two in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls, one in the Kapuskasing area, and one in the area of Hearst, Hornepayne.

To curb the spread of the virus a provincial shutdown is place for at least four weeks.

There are COVID-19 assessment centres in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Hearst, and Hornepayne.
