Two Local Youth Facing Several Charges - Timmins Police Service

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged two young offenders after a series of investigations. In the early hours of August 22nd 2013 , officers responded to a complaint that a citizen’s recycling bin had been set afire in South Porcupine.

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged two young offenders after a series of investigations. In the early hours of August 22nd 2013, officers responded to a complaint that a citizen’s recycling bin had been set afire in South Porcupine. The fire was quickly put out by a neighbor. Later that morning, police and the fire department responded to a playground set that was on fire.

The children’s play area sustained major damage. As a result of the investigations, two youth aged 13 and 15 were arrested and now face several charges. In addition, on August 27, 2013 police investigated the theft of a motor vehicle. Officers located the vehicle at which time several occupants fled on foot. Officers successfully located two of the occupants of the vehicle who attempted to hide in a nearby residence. Both youth were placed under arrest for a second time in the matter of days.

Both youth are now facing the following charges:

13 year-old:

-20 counts of Breach of Probation -2 counts of Arson -Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent -Obstruct Peace Officer

15 year-old:

-3 counts of Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent -Obstruct Peace Officer -Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Police are still investigating these incidents.
