If you want to take the whole family to Rock on the River, there's good news.

Instead of purchasing tickets for children 10 and under for this month's two-day music festival, Timmins Festivals and Events Committee (TFEC) has announced it will once again be accepting cash donations for local charities for admission.

The two groups chosen for this year's festival are the Yo Mobile, a non-profit offering the less fortunate with free meals, clothing and essential items, and the Timmins YMCA.

“Rock On The River is all about bringing the community together to make Timmins an awesome and fun place to live. Much like TFEC, these organizations thrive on the support of Timmins to operate effectively. With Rock On The River reaching a level of support where TFEC is able to give back as well, it only makes sense to do so," said John Olaveson, TFEC chair.

While any monetary donation will be accepted, TFEC is challenging the community to be generous. The cash raised through the child entry donations will be equally split between the two groups.

The 2019 Rock on the River music festival is being held July 26 and 27 at Participark in Timmins.

The Sheepdogs are headlining the Friday show. Tim Hicks, The Trews, The Road Hammers and Maddie Storvold will also be on stage.

Saturday will see Theory, Red Sun Rising, Everlast, I Mother Earth, and Fortune Cookie Club perform.
