While conducting traffic patrol of Highway 101 in the Schumacher area, a Timmins Police Service officer had occasion to observe a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck allegedly racing with each other while being driven at high rates of speed during the late evening hours of Monday, Sept. 3.

The drivers were stopped by the officer and interviewed regarding their driving behaviours. Both drivers were charged with stunt driving and, in keeping with the provisions of section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act, their respective driver’s licences have been suspended for seven days. Additionally, the vehicles involved in the incident have been impounded for seven days.

Dominic Flaminio, 46, of Timmins along with Jason Vallee, 23, of Timmins, have been issued Provincial Offence Summonses requiring that they attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Oct. 25, 2018 to answer to the charges laid against them. The vehicles involved in the incident were towed from the scene.

The Timmins Police Service reminds all motorists that enhanced traffic safety is an achievable goal as a shared responsibility between law enforcement personnel and the motoring public. The Timmins Police Service officers actively conduct patrols to locate and identify drivers who indulge in unsafe driving behaviour. Simply put, stunt driving places the individual driver at risk as well as other motorists he or she will encounter.
