The Timmins Police Service arrested two local persons on the strength of arrest warrants stemming from separate incidents yesterday Sept. 3, 2019.

While completing patrols of the Schumacher area yesterday morning, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized the driver of a dodge pickup truck as being a person who is allegedly wanted on the strength of an Arrest Warrant issued by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was interviewed by the officer while the validity of the warrant was being confirmed.

Once confirmed, Paul Archibald, 32, of Timmins, Ontario, was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the original charges laid against him.

Additionally, he was charged with 2 counts of Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He was issued respective summonses for these alleged offences.

In an unrelated incident, a Timmins Police Service officer responded to a minor disturbance complaint yesterday afternoon at a Pine Street South retail store. The male subject of the complaint fled prior to police arrival but was located by the officer a short distance from the original location of the complaint.

The suspect was detained and interviewed by the Timmins Police Service officer. The suspect is alleged to have provided a false name to the officer who recognized the suspect as being a male person known to the police.

A routine check determined that, Andrew Wesley 40, of Timmins, Ontario, was wanted on the strength of an existing warrant and was taken into police custody. Upon arrest, alleged stolen property from the Pine Street South retail store was located on his person.

He was further charged with:

  • Personation With Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
