ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

KAPUSAKSING - On Oct. 14, 2017, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers of the Kapuskasing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were advised of an injured female at a residence on Brunetville Road in the Town of Kapuskasing.
The female was transported to a local hospital via ambulance where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.
Police have arrested and charged Daphne Wesley, 33 years of age, of Kapuskasing, Ont. with the following offences:
- Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
- Assault causing bodily Harm contrary to section 267(b) CC
- Two counts of fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge contrary to section 145(5.1) CC
Police have also arrested and charged Stewart Shields, 44 years of age, of Opasatika, Ont. with the following offences:
- Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
- Assault causing bodily harm contrary to section 267(b) CC
The accused female remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ont. on Oct. 20, 2017 to answer to the charges.
The accused male also remains in custody and is scheduled for a video bail hearing with the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ont. on Oct. 24, 2017 to answer to the charges.
